On January 25, 2025, Inockot Global Services Limited, in collaboration with Ecobarter, Ecocyckle, the Climate and Sustainable Development Network of Nigeria, and
The Promise Ebitu Foundation (Pefcares), launched a recycling outreach program titled “Neighborhood Recycle: Equipping Families to Transform Waste for a Sustainable Society.
The initiative was designed with families – especially children – at its heart. Through interactive games, door-to-door campaigns, and hands-on recycling activities, participants learned the value of turning waste into opportunity. Plastics, paper, and metals were collected, teaching households how everyday actions can contribute to a cleaner environment and a more sustainable future.
By the end of the day, volunteers had gathered over 1,000 single-use plastics, a simple but powerful reminder that collective community action can achieve remarkable results. More than just waste collection, the outreach equipped families with practical tools and habits for waste reduction, instilling a culture of climate action right from the home.
While the pilot outreach was impactful, Nigeria’s environmental challenges rising temperatures, flooding, and waste pollution demand even greater effort. To truly drive transformation, the Neighborhood Recycle initiative must expand:
From hundreds of plastics to thousands, from awareness to long-term behavioral change. By investing in family-driven climate action, we can build eco-conscious communities that are more resilient in the face of environmental challenges.
At Pefcares and our partner organizations, we believe that sustainable change begins at home. Every plastic bottle collected, every child who learns to recycle, and every family that commits to reducing waste is part of a bigger story one of hope, action, and a cleaner future for Nigeria and beyond.
