As part of its unwavering commitment to digital inclusivity, the Promise Ebitu Foundation
(Pefcares), in collaboration with Unveil Africa and Stage Rave Entertainment, an organization
committed to bridging cultures and showcasing Africa’s diversity, held a 2-days transformative
youth empowerment workshop from 25th – 26th July, 2019, in Lagos State. The initiative provided
free professional development in technology, business acumen, and emotional intelligence,
targeting young Nigerians eager to build sustainable careers in today’s digital-driven world.
Over 60 youth participants were trained in web development, video editing/post production, and
business management, alongside critical sessions on emotional wellness, an all-around program
designed to equip them with the technical and personal growth tools needed to succeed.
The program opened with a session led by Mr. Promise Ebitu, the Foundation’s founder and a
passionate advocate for youth development, known for his grassroots engagement and digital
literacy efforts across Nigeria and internationally. He also anchored the video editing session.
Designed to bridge the digital gap among youth, the workshop delivered in-depth sessions on both foundational and intermediate concepts of web development, facilitated by Mr. Kenneth. To complement the technical knowledge, Mr. Joseph Samuel, a seasoned Business Consultant, shared practical insights on business strategies. His session guided participants on how to start from scratch, sustain a small enterprise, and manage growth with discipline and clarity.
Recognizing that true success requires inner strength as much as external skills, Mrs. Ndidi, CEO of Unveil Africa and a passionate wellness advocate who generously offered her space for the training, led sessions on self-care and emotional well-being. She emphasized practices around mental resilience, emotional intelligence, healthy habits, and stress management. These sessions proved invaluable, helping participants appreciate the balance between ambition and mental well-being.
Many participants left not only with new skills but also with a renewed sense of direction. Some are already making plans to launch freelance careers or provide digital services to local businesses.
This workshop was more than just a training -it was a lifeline. It formed part of a broader mission to tackle youth unemployment and create sustainable opportunities, particularly for those in underserved communities.
As Nigeria continues its rapid digital transformation, initiatives like this are essential to ensure that no young person is left behind.
