I Just Want to Be Happy: Gata Orphanage Home Visit – Pefcares

Akwanga, Nasarawa State | 29 August 2026

Some of the most powerful moments in humanitarian work are not found in boardrooms or budget reports. They are found in the eyes of a child who, for the first time in a long time, feels truly seen. On 29 August 2026, BOJBAM, in partnership with ImpactForge, the Promise Ebitu Foundation (PEFCares), and the Sarvion Alliance, made that moment possible for the children of Gata Orphanage Home in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.

The “I Just Want to Be Happy” initiative
was born from a simple but profound conviction that every child, regardless of circumstance, deserves joy. Envisioned by BOJBAM and brought to life by coordinator Wraiba Danson alongside a dedicated team of volunteers and partners, the initiative was not designed to solve everything. It was designed to do something equally powerful: remind children that they are not forgotten.

More Than a Donation

The team arrived bearing gifts, food items, educational materials, personal care supplies, and everyday essentials carefully selected to support the home’s ongoing needs. A cash donation was also presented to address the orphanage’s immediate operational requirements. But the most meaningful gift arrived without wrapping. It arrived in the form of time unhurried, undivided, and fully present. The team sat with the children. They laughed together, shared stories, played, and created memories that no inventory list could capture. In those moments, the conversation shifted from what these children lacked to who they are: curious, bright, resilient, and full of life.

What We Carried Home

When the visit ended, something quietly remarkable had happened. The team had arrived as donors. They left as witnesses to the incredible strength of children who face extraordinary odds with extraordinary grace. One child’s laughter. One spontaneous hug. One smile that needed no translation. These are the moments that remind us why this work matters, not just as an organizational mandate, but as a human one.

A Note from Sarvion Alliance & PEFCares

At the Promise Ebitu Foundation and Sarion Alliance, we believe that compassion is most effective when it is personal. Showing up matters. Being present matters. And ensuring that the most vulnerable among us know they are valued, that matters most of all. We are honored to have stood alongside BOJBAM and ImpactForge in this initiative, and we remain committed to creating moments of dignity, hope, and joy for children across our communities. One visit. One community. Countless reasons to keep going.

Because every child deserves not just survival but happiness.whwah
